Tree Trimming & Pruning in Buffalo, NY
Proper pruning keeps your trees healthy, keeps limbs off your roof, and keeps your property looking sharp — without the topping and hack jobs that ruin trees.
Tree Trimming & Pruning
Pruning Is Surgery, Not A Haircut
Every cut on a tree is a wound, and where you make it decides whether the tree seals cleanly or starts to decay. Good pruning removes dead and crossing limbs, thins the canopy so wind passes through instead of pushing the tree over, and raises clearance over roofs, driveways, and walkways — all with cuts placed at the branch collar where the tree can heal.
Our climbers prune trees all over Buffalo the right way: no topping, no flush cuts, no spikes on trees that are staying. Whether it's a mature maple shading your whole yard or a young tree that needs structural shaping, you'll see a cleaner silhouette now and a stronger, healthier tree every year after.

FAQ
Tree Trimming & Pruning Questions
-
How often should trees be trimmed?
-
Most mature shade trees do well on a 3–5 year cycle; fast growers and trees near structures may need attention more often. Young trees benefit from light structural pruning every 2–3 years — it's the cheapest tree care you'll ever buy.
-
-
When is the best time of year to prune?
-
Late fall through early spring is ideal for most species in WNY — trees are dormant and cuts close quickly in spring. Dead or hazardous limbs are the exception: those should come out whenever they're found.
-
-
Do you top trees?
-
No, and you shouldn't let anyone do it. Topping removes the canopy a tree needs to feed itself and triggers weakly-attached regrowth that becomes more dangerous than what was removed. We reduce height the right way, with cuts back to healthy lateral limbs.
-
-
Can you trim just the branches over my house?
-
Absolutely. Clearance pruning over roofs and gutters is one of our most common calls — we'll quote exactly the work you want done.
